The Mad River is our first outing as a new group, it's close to our
Laurel Tree home base and it hosts a number of wonderful local species for our class to observe. We've seen frogs, fish, egrets, herons, swallows, king fishers, snakes and lizards to name a few. We practice traveling, observing, sharing and working together as a team in our first Forest School outing.
Some of our favorite activities at The Mad River:
~Rope extension bridges
~ Observational drawing
~ Rock tossing
~ Mini boat floating
~ Building boats out of found materials
~ Birding
~Frog hunting & observation
~Walkabouts
~Building dens
